bts as art movements— a thread 🥀

(aka me finding any way to procrastinate)
jimin: rococo (late 17th and 18th century france)

characterized by pleasure, playfulness, romantic scenes, pastel palettes, sensuality
taehyung: neo-expressionism (late 1970s)

spontaneous technique, individual and subjective, violently emotional, intense colors, rapid brushwork
namjoon: minimalist (1960s and early 70s)

exposing the true essence and nature of something, eliminating non-essentials, exploring identity, art as its own reality
hoseok: fauvism (early 20th century france)— my favorite :)

vivid expression, strong color, boldness. separating color from its natural uses, thereby giving emotional meaning to otherwise everyday scenes
seokjin: baroque (early 17th-mid 18th century europe)

defined by intense drama, theatricality, emotion, decadent richness, highly precise technique, use of gold and marble in sculpture
jungkook: humanism (italian renaissance)

focuses on the beauty and potential of humans. free-thinking, the pursuit of knowledge, curiosity, optimistic belief in humanity’s values
yoongi: traditional chinese brush painting (10th-12th century china)

peaceful emptiness, love of nature, humanity’s smallness compared to the natural world, self cleansing, healing of the soul
