I spent a huge chunk of late 2015 and 2016 telling people that (a) @BernieSanders was the pragmatic choice to beat trump and that (b) trump could easily win.

Now the same people who absolutely *knew* Hillary was going to win are insisting that @JoeBiden is the safe choice, and damned near nobody will admit to thinking that trump couldn't win (save for a rare few like @clrede who are honest about it).

I can not begin to describe my frustration and horror spending that year trying desperately to convince people that trump could win, and that we need to do everything in possible our power to prevent that, only to have people grab the wheel & foreseeable steer us over that cliff.

Given that and how horrible all of this has been, it is maddening to be having the same idiotic arguments again with people who *KNOW* Joe will win and who *KNOW* that Bernie is risky - because of the one thing Rs used against every single Democrat since Roosevelt.

I find myself standing here again watching as we're about to predictably go over a cliff, & seeing it even clearer and more obviously than in 2016, & I just want to fucking scream that I get zero credit for having been right and the assholes who got it wrong have learned nothing.

At this moment the future is not certain, but it seems exceedingly likely that Joe will get the nomination (again due to unfounded fear) and then he will predictably be destroyed in the general because he neutralises our ability to attack trump on ethics, lying, women, race, etc.

I hope I'm wrong here but I'm not making this call based on clairvoyance or precognition or reading tea leaves or anything of the sort. It's just a series of things that should be glaringly obvious to anyone who cares to look and I'm so fucking tired of this shit.

There is one candidate who history and the moment have shown to be right time and again, who has high ratings of trust and favourability, and whose policies have broad support among Rs, Is, as well as Ds, and another who has nothing going for him but obamastalgia and #BlueMAGA.

This is like guessing that a bowling ball probably won't hit any pins if it gets into the gutter, and yet I'm in endless discussions with people who just know that it's going to magically bounce out of the gutter and hit a strike.

‥ and the one bit of circular evidence these people have in their favour that they keep returning to is «trust the voters» who made the same wrong call in 2016 and who (a) will vote for a shit sandwich to beat trump and (b) have been told scawy-socialism will kill Bernie

‥ and (again because I can't re-iterate this enough) LITERALLY EVERY DEMOCRAT SINCE ROOSEVELT HAS BEEN ACCUSED OF BEING A SOCIALIST INCLUDING BILL AND HILLARY & BARACK & FOR DAMNED SURE JOE WILL BE SO IT'S PRICED INTO ANY DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE & IS THUS IGNORABLE FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
