Been listening to Spiritualized the last couple of days and have a story about seeing them. If you don't know Spiritualized, they are an English group that was big for most of the 90's. Came out of another band call Spacemen 3 and was a big "drug" band.

Like the Jesus and Mary Chain, but on tons of drugs.

So Spiritualized is playing Denver at the Bluebird. I think it was in support of 1997's "Ladies and Gentelmen We Are Floating In Space" record. And of course, we're going to see them. I think I had seen them once before, but shit is real hazy at this point in my life.

A bunch of us are going to the show and we're getting loaded at the PS Lounge as one does before any Bluebird show. The thing is, I was hitting it pretty hard prior to that and I was in no shape to keep this party rolling.

I take some mushrooms, drink a bunch of beers and get into the show. I'm sure I smoked some weed and my body just decided to shut down. Can't really breathe and I know something is wrong.

I say to my buddy who's equally off his head, "hey, I'm not doing well. I think something's wrong." Now, if I made that statement, something was actually wrong. But all he says is "you'll be fine!" and he runs off into the night. I was not fine.

But I gut it out and spend the rest of the night at home thinking I was going to die. I'm sure I was dehydrated, and had been partying too hard and it all caught up to me. Meanwhile Spiritualized is playing and it's beautiful.

the moral of the story, kids, is don't do drugs. but if you do make sure you have plenty of rest and have people around you that you can trust. drink water. Spiritualized is great and highly suggest them. Just take it easy, ok?

Also have a great story about seeing Mazzy Star in Boulder and if this thread does good numbers (gotta think about my ratings) I'll let you know that one too.
