I need my Black American historians out here to reject what I call the "Immigrantization of the Black American experience". ADOS will never be immigrants to the United States of America and it is a massive disrespect to our legacy in this country and our ancestors
Reject "Pan-African" or "diasporic" interpretations of our specific historical and cultural contributions to this nation and the world. Do the proper scholarship and contextualize outside influence if it does exist. Don't be accepting of just giving our shit away to non-BAs
I see a revision and rewriting of history due to folks being in our spaces, wanting to shoehorn their way into our culture and not actually studying or carrying about our scholarship that debunks these claims.
The Black immigrant presence has been historically low and the recent boom of BIs is a result of the Hart Cellar Act, before then they were a negligent amount of people who survived in spaces we created for ourselves. We are not equal in contributions nor number.
I see this agenda as to also write us out our own history and to accommodate a rising number of Black immigrants who are coming into the country and living in a more post-racial world than Black Americans are. It's to mask the oppression of BAs
Accusing BAs of "US centrism" while talking about our contributions in THIS country is nothing more than an attempted erasure of BAs in left-wing "anti-imperialist" language.
