( a thread )Almost 3 months ago i got a call asking if i could take in a newborn kitten that was found wrapped up in a blanket on the side of the road, he still had his eyes closed at the time
so i immediately said yes, thinking id give him comfort in the few days he would have left, since kittens at that age dont usually make it without their moms, & because he was alone he had an even lower chance of making it
This was when he was first found, the video was sent to me by the person who found him
kittens at this young are such a hassle, they need to be bottle fed every 2 hours and have a constant heat source, besides the fact that they cant pee or poop by themselves & theyre immune systems are basically non exsistant

another video that the person who found him took while he was bringing him to me u can tell how tiny he was
anyway, so i warmed him up as soon as i got him and when he was warm enough i tried to bottle feed, usually kittens refuse it but he immediately got use to it, Heres a photo of him after his first feeding!!

i dont usually name the kittens i rescue, just because most of the time they dont make it and it sucks when u get attached even if its a little bit, but after the first 2 days of feeding him i could tell he wanted to live, so we named him mouse ! obviously cause he looks like 1

After almost 3 to 4 days, he started opening his eyes and he was gaining weight, all very good signs! his first photo with his eyes open

ofc, i have to older cats at home and i really wanted one of them to maybe hold mouse and provide the comfort that moms do for their young, unfortunately my cats wanted nothing to with him, heres a photo of my oldest with mouse ( u can tell hes pissed )
in an attempt to make him feel like mom was still around i gave him my sisters furry sweater, worked like a charm

his first week of life went smoothly and he was healthy & doing well
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🥳" title="Partying face" aria-label="Emoji: Partying face">
For the first 2 weeks or so i kept feeding him every 2 hours, which is the required for kittens at that age and so i barley got any sleep
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙂" title="Slightly smiling face" aria-label="Emoji: Slightly smiling face"> but by the third week he was drinking every four hours and was way more enthusiastic about it, look at him trying to grab the bottle
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">
by the third week he was getting a little dirty, it is dangerous to give kittens baths so please dont attempt this at home, usually the mother grooms him but since the mother wasnt around i had to give him a bath, after his first bath!!
he started moving around

so after m 4 to 5 weeks i started attempting to wean him, basically trying to get him off the milk and eating regular cat food, very hard and he loved his bottle very much ( the milk is pink because theres cat food mixed in it )
wanted to also share this video because his belly shows, a easy way to know if kittens are full is when there belly looks bloated
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy"> its adorable, ignore my older cat being angry as usual lmao
Eventually was able to litter train & wean him in the same week

Fast forward to now, he is the most playful kitten ive ever rescued, so full of energy and loves my older cats even though they cant stand him

Side note that i think is super adorable & super sad, mouse sucks his tail for comfort, its common in orphaned kittens that didnt have the chance to suckle on their mom
