Barely been on TL with it and I’m already tired of seeing things like “Bungou to Alchemist is just a BSD copy” or “Well, I like BSD (insert character) better!”

Like — that’s great, and everyone is entitled to their opinions. But Bungou to Alchemist is not a BSD rip off.

(+)
Bungou to Alchemist is an adaptation of the first-browser-then-mobile game that also uses historical authors. This is not the first time that these historical authors have been used for other series: in fact, it’s staggeringly commonplace.

If anything, Bungou to Alchemist’s (+)
characters keep slightly more to their historical counterparts, with personalities and relationships often mirroring their irl counterparts closer than BSD does.

This makes neither media bad: in fact, all this does is successfully elevate interest in classical authors, (+)
a task that may otherwise not be as easy to accomplish.

The series may not be for you, and that’s fine. But calling one a rip-off when it’s not, or going onto other posts to say things to the effect of, “I don’t like this version you posted about, I only like BSD!” ain’t (+)
it chief. You are only succeeding in further making the fandom appear toxic, when in reality you should be congratulating others on enjoying a new series and, if they don’t know about BSD, telling them, “Oh, this one ALSO adapts classic authors!”
