@realDonaldTrump is proved right again.

Peter Hitchens--the late Christopher's brother--says that a lockdown is unnecessary to stop the spread of COVID-19.

He's adamant. You can watch the video later is you want.
Hitchens pointed to the success of Singapore, which he said stopped the spread of COVID-19 without a lockdown.

Well...

On April 3, Singapore announced a one-month nationwide lockdown.
The attempts to stop the spread without a lockdown FAILED.

There are infection clusters popping up all over the country.
The American anti-Trump press hails South Korea as a success story.

As I keep saying, East Asians value "face" more than anything, so we can't rely on their claims of success.

As South Korea is proving.
"South Korea has extended government guidelines urging people to social distance to slow the spread of the coronavirus for two weeks as infections continue to grow in the densely populated Seoul metropolitan area."
"The country has also struggled to stem infections in hospitals, nursing homes, mental wards and other live-in facilities."
"The country’s caseload has slowed from early March, when it reported around 500 new cases a day, but there’s alarm over a steady rise in infections in the Seoul metropolitan area, where around half of South Korea’s 51 million people live."
South Korea isn't a success story.

LIKE EVERY OTHER COUNTRY, it's going to have to mitigate by shutting down.

It's not hard to understand that mitigation is the only solution.

Unless we shut everything down, our medical system collapses. As in, it's gone for years.
There's no other illness that requires so many people to be admitted to intensive care.

My father had to be put in intensive care four times.

It was the quietest place in the hospital, and most of the beds were empty.

Now we're having to build EMERGENCY ICUs.
People need to accept that @realDonaldTrump made the hardest decision of any president in our history, and he did it without complaint.

And the SAME DAY, he began working on the post-COVID-19 country.

Singapore and South Korea simply delayed the inevitable.
Bitching about this is like Bruce Beairnsfather's most famous cartoon from World War I.

He was a British infantry officer, and his cartoons will make you laugh out loud.
If you know of a better hole, go to it.

The point is, THERE'S NO BETTER HOLE.

This is it.

Gregory Peck in The Guns of Navarone, as spoken to whiny, bitching David Niven.
"Now Miller, you know that when you put on a uniform and learn how to do it, it's not hard to kill someone. Sometimes, it's harder not to. You think that you've been getting away with it all this time. Standing by."
"Well, son, your bystanding days are over. You're in it NOW, up to your NECK."
We're all in the hole, up to our necks.

So quit yer bitching, and make our ancestors proud.

Dismissed.
