Instead of dismissing the result, I would actually and actively hope the numbers in China are real because that's the sign that COVID-19 could actually be controlled in a period of time with our actions before vaccine or immunity emerges.
Here are some public health recommendations U.S. rolled out in the past three weeks:
- Social distancing
- Stopped non-essential business
- Increased testing kits
- Increase PPEs and medical resources
- Making temporary hospitals
- Wearing masks
China ENFORCED:
- Mandatory six-week full lockdown and quarantine for a province with 60m people
- A much stricter nation-wide "stay at home" for five weeks
- Wearing mask in public for eight weeks, still now
- Made 13 temporary hospitals in February
- Ramp up testing in Feb.
With a BIG-government system, China also:
- Sent medical teams from 16 provinces to the quarantined province
- Mandatorily isolated people who test positive, later even show symptoms.
- Temperature check for all essential business
- Use big data and surveillance for tracking
When people heard my mother in Wuhan stayed at home for 70 days, some asked me what would happen if she decided to go out. Only people with special permission could get pass the checking at entrance

What about food? She ordered online and community workers to drop at the door.
For the record, this thread is not endorsing these actions. Some are considered invasive, aggressive and radical.
And I know some of them are bluntly infringing U.S. Constitution.
The point of this thread is that

if America is believing in the actions they are taking to fight COVID-19, then being open and fair to the results and effectiveness of Chinese people's seven-week efforts of combating it would be the first step.
