I’m reading lots of people talking about encephalopathy after sedation weaning in #COVID19 patients. Lots of theories including microthrombi, inflammation and hypoxic-ischemic lesions. Probably all of those play a role, but most people seem to be overlooking #delirium

These patients are being deeply sedated, paralyzed, socially isolated and placed in overwhelmed units with overwhelmed staff. Some are also suffering from severe inflammatory states. That’s the perfect recipe for #delirium.
