Disclaimer: the stories I choose are all based on books I actually read. They’re very Western because that’s where I grew up and studied. I think it’d be cool if other people made similar threads based on the stories they loved. Let’s show that Ahgase are smart and multicultural.
BamBam - The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Although most people asóciate this book just with wealth, the story is deeps and complex. It sheds lights on how intricate relationships between people can be and encourages the reader to value things more.
Jinyoung - Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

This story is more than popular culture makes it out to be. Upon first glance it reads like a poor love story. One has to read closely to find the deep love and careful commentary that is hidden in its pages.
Jaebeom - Don Quijote de La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes

This story was a big “fuck you” to the knight stories popular at the time Cervantes was writing. In this story, our characters do what they want, despite the expectations of the readers or other characters.
Youngjae - The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

This is one of my favorite stories by Wilde. In it he weaves word-play and metaphor to create a story that on the outside seems stiff but on the inside is full of laughter and wit. It’s both deep and hilarious.
Jackson - La Casa de Los Espíritus by Isabel Allende

It’s complex novel that is creating many different arguments at the same time but pulls them off seamlessly. Its a story about the work done by many generations of one family and their individual and collective destinies.
Mark - Chronica de Una Muerte Anunciada by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

One of Marquez most underrated pieces, this story uses magical realism to transport the reader into a world that both tragic and humorous. A simple story that is made beautiful by the language used to tell it.
Yugyeom - A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Connor

O’Connor was knows for her particular sense of humor. In this story, she uses irony and word-play to tell the reader to always evaluate their own believes, while also being incredibly humorous.
