5sos were purposely targeted by the pop industry. large companies like m*dest management n c*pitol records intentionally sabotaged the release of their new music n their fourth studio album calm. this is a thread explaining why i believe that they were.
for starters, we all know that 5sos were contracted to m*dest n c*pitol records when moved to london n were offered to open for one direction in 2012. bare in mind, that all the boys were underage at this point. ashton was turning 18, however the other three were minors.
so with that being said,, we know that they were locked into a contract that was extremely full on n left no room to breathe,, just like one direction were. so it makes perfect sense that when 5sos’s contract ended with them, that they wanted to walk away n explore another side
of the music industry. intersc*pe was the perfect choice,, because it gave them the freedom to create songs the way that they want to without people looking over their shoulders. but ever since they started releasing music with intersc*pe, there has been so many issues arising
n i do believe that it isn’t intersc*pe’s fault,, why would they want to potentially ruin the success of their own signed artist? they wouldn’t. so i do believe the pop industry had a part to play in this. such as the album artwork getting leaked, the release date getting leaked,
the tour dates being leaked by ticketmaster, teeth n old me not doing as well as they should considering the streams, no shame not being sent to radio, wildflower being leaked, the album being leaked,,, it All makes perfect sense. with the dedicated fanbase that 5sos do have, the
songs should’ve done better on radio than they did imo. so it really does make you think, hey? not to mention the fact 5sos wrote no shame for this record,, the first record that they have released without being under the influence of companies like m*dest. n the worst part is
the boys know that they were sabotaged. they know that they were targeted n it has worked. that’s why we mustn’t stay quiet. we can’t let the pop industry get away with trying to control another artist that tried to break away from the mould. we know that they rightfully got the
sales to make them number one. n that’s exactly why we are fighting,, because 5sos have done nothing to deserve this kind of sabotage. thank you for listening to my ted talk.
