Kurds, don't make your history small!

"Mahabad Republic" is NOT the correct name of the republic of 1946! The official name was REPUBLIC OF KURDISTAN.

Please read this thread, it's very important, you have to know your history!
Authors who document the Republic and use the misnomer have poorly researched and have not looked at historical documents. Instead they use a name that was spread by Persians to make one of the greatest events in Kurdish history small and to deprive it from its national meaning.
The Republic was not only extended to the city of Mahabad but to a large area in the north of Eastern Kurdistan. This misnomer also excludes the national idea associated with the establishment of the republic and reduces it to a self-government in the city of Mahabad.
The Republic was the implementation of national aspirations of the Kurdish people and has made a major contribution to Kurdish national awareness. Unfortunately the wrong name has now been immortalized in some books.
I picked out some documents from the archive "Wêney Komarî Kurdistan" a collection of historical images and documents from the Republic, collected by Hesen Qazi, that show the official name (Dewletî Cemhurî Kurdistan*)
