A "slur" is only a slur if it comes attached to systemic inequality, because the dehumanizing aspect of slurs are explicitly used to deprive populations of lives and livelihoods. Otherwise it's just, like, a nickname
Even the usage of "Karen" suggests a specificity, which in turn implies that there are people who otherwise fit the bill but are not currently acting like a Karen. Meanwhile "jap," for example, isn't about behavior; it's about an existence
And I guess since I said "jap" I should point out to my Jewish friends that "JAP" feels a bit uncomfortable to me personally
