Today, our area at @TheWharfDC was closed with no notice. Massive crowds congregated at the Fish Market on Saturday, forcing police closures today. We understand it, despite how frustrating it was to have no notice. We had already prepared hundreds of doughnuts for our store.
Keeping DC safe is an absolute priority, and we respect that. Rather than dwell on the negativity that this situation caused for us, let's talk about the positive things. We asked you, Twitter, what we should do with our massive amount of doughnuts that we already prepared.
We had already planned to distribute doughnuts to hospitals, and you all reinforced that. Not only did you send us great suggestions, you stepped up to the plate to help.
@DeamonScapin (Pastor of @TriumphDC) and @dmasher volunteered to help deliver the doughnuts.

Many of you also doughnated to help us cover the cost of the doughnuts, which brought tears to our eyes. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness.
Thanks to you, we delivered to the MUCH deserving teams at Sibley, @HowardU Hospital, @GWHospital, and @SuburbanHosp.

...including a couple in the @TriumphDC church, who is currently quarantined with COVID-19. Their pastor, @DeamonScapin, provided a no-contact delivery. Their 2 week old is currently in the NICU at Sibley, and Deamon safely delivered doughnuts to them and their nurses.
Today started off on a sour note, and ended with an incredibly sweet one. Thank you to all who helped us make this happen, especially @DeamonScapin and his family, pictured here. We will all get through this because of people like you. #HappinessFound
Last but not least, here is the team at @SuburbanHosp receiving their doughnuts. Thanks to @dmasher for delivering.
