I see people using N-95 or surgical masks when going to the grocery store. If you’re reusing them due to having a limited supply, you could end up getting yourself or others sick if they are contaminated. If you must reuse them, spray them with hydrogen peroxide and let them dry.
Don’t spray them with alcohol, especially the N-95 masks, which can damage the material and make them useless. Put hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle that creates a fine mist and thoroughly get the mask from all sides and angles. This isn’t ideal but it is better than nothing.
Of course, the absolute best solution is to use a brand new mask every time you go outside. But in this environment where you can’t even find toilet paper or hand sanitizer on the shelves, asking people to wear a new mask each time they go out is like telling people to eat cake.
