My 67-year-old father officially tested positive for COVID-19. This is how he decided to tell me.

Bob update: he is quarantined in my childhood bedroom. Making lots of jokes about the various lyrics I wrote on the door in sharpie when I was 15. Doing okay so far. Still worried.

can’t sleep. haven’t slept much the past few nights. trying to stay hopeful and positive.

the second all of this is over i am getting on a plane to florida.

Bob Update: He’s not eating. At all. They’re probably going to have to intubate him. He doesn’t seem super hopeful. I’m sad.

I’m so sorry to be clogging your timelines with this stuff - I just don’t know how else to deal with this other than facetime my mom and sister and update the world in hopes that he’ll get as many prayers as humanly possible.

Another day without a Bob update. I feel like screaming. Still hoping that no news is good news.

Bob called!!!! He still sounds really, really weak but he hasn’t had a fever in four days! The nurses think the virus is passing, but he still has a long way to go. This is the best news.

He continuously praised the nurses and I really want to send them all gift baskets or something.

Bob Update: They ordered a plasma transfusion. He’s being moved to the ICU. We’re sad.
