@Sheer_Rossyness I'm honoured. Let's start the week off with an obvious one for me. Seen 'em six times, fifteen+ albums deep, and some of my favourite riffs to play along. This album represents the bridge between the modern punk I started off with and the older stuff I love today
Another day, another record from the good folks at Epitaph. This album has my all time favourite intro. Kurt Ballou knows tone. This album also has a couple of my favourite Converge bangers (Black Cloud, Eagles . . . ). And it opened the door for me for Botch, Cave In, Dillinger.
I wanted to include at least one stoner album in homage to the boss @NKB121 and this is my can.con, and it's the most contemporary of my picks. Super underrated album with cool lyrics, exceptional drumming, killer riffs. They matured a lot between albums (esp. the guitar-work).
Diamond Head AKA The White Album AKA Lightning to the Nations (I went with the 🇩🇪 sleeve cos it's 🔥) is THE definitive NWOBHM record (with all due respect to my beloved Tank/Tygers/Angel Witch). None of Priest/Motorhead/Maiden made an album this complete.
I had to include one British punk album and this one still has a place in my rotation after all these years. This was the most metal album I had gotten into before I got into metal. Make no mistake, it's a punk album. But it has a very pronounced Motorhead vibe. And that artwork!
Back to north america still somewhere between hardcore and thrash. 22 songs in 18 minutes?! This record totally changed my perception of music and opened up my mind to so many musical possibilities (and did the same for thousands of copycat bands). Fast, sarcastic, chaotic bliss.
Damn, day 7 already :( let's go out with an extremely sentimental one. Descendents, ALL? (No, ALL!) Are they one band or two? Either way, I have goosebumps when I hear those chords.
I saw some other folks getting indulgent on their 7A7D threads so here's a bonus: song from ALL's third album written by Milo (Descendents) originally with Scott on vocals. This version has Milo on vocals but is still techincALLy and ALL song.
This one guts me every time. Song from ALL's Mass Nerder album (not to be confused w Descendents song of same name) originally w Chad on vocals. This demo has Chad and Milo splitting lead vocals (excuse the quality). I have no words.
I was busy working on something special for S7S and I almost forgot my daily music post. Here's Chad backing up Milo for reference purposes.
This one's a real treat. Tony (original Descendents bassist) wrote a solo album and collaborated with ALL. Karl (ALL bassist) provides vocals on this track.
