Growth of my photography. 2014-2020. A thread.
It’s April 5, 2020 and most of us are practicing social distancing. I have been going through old hard drives/reprocessing photos. And thought it’d be interesting to share how my work has changed. Each day I’ll share a new year.
Early 2014. I had been making photos up to this point but this year was the start of taking things seriously. It was also when I got my first full frame dslr.
I was finishing school at Georgia State and had my camera everyday. I’d make photos with any free time I had between classes.
Most of the photos were very one dimensional.
April 2014 was my first time doing any real nature photography. This trip to Smoky Mountain National Park will always be a favorite because of that.
Summer 2014.
Summer 2014 was the first time I ever printed and showcased any work. It was a group show at the W midtown. Notice the fancy hanging setup.
Late summer 2014. I got my first wide angle lens. 18mm-35mm.
Fall 2014. My first trip for photography. San Francisco. We flew in the day the Giants won the World Series.
Fall 2014. My first tine making photos from a helicopter over Atlanta.
To close out the year two big things happened. I got my first publication. Sneaker News Magazine for photography I made of @Trinidadjamesgg. And I released my first small book project “Atlanta Going Up”
To end 2014 it was my first time making photos in Nashville and my first attempt at street photography that came out sorta ok.
Nashville. Late 2014.
After re-editing these they look alright as a complete set of photos. However I don’t think any stand up alone. Most are very one dimensional and I hadn’t refined my compositions yet. I was also a chronic over editor. This is how they looked at the time.
Catch y’all tomorrow for 2015.
