Last week a dude shows up from this company and says "we& #39;re checking on customers making sure they have what they need, we have your address on our route but the account expired in 2010." I said, "well we bought this house in 2017,I don& #39;t even know who I get propane from...”
“...but they automatically refill it." He says "ok, I& #39;m probably just looking at the old account... I can& #39;t find yours but we& #39;re the only one who do that in this area. Do you mind If I take a look at see if you need a refill?" So I was like "sure man have at it"
He goes to my buried tank, looks at it.. writes something down and leave. Today I got this letter in the mail:
So, in the middle of a global pandemic, during a statewide lockdown.. they are threatening to remove a 16 year old propane tank they haven& #39;t checked in on in over a decade.
I don’t know all the laws of possession pertaining to this but 1) if they do own this tank they’ve effectively abandoned it for 10 years on this property. 2) I bought this tank from the previous owner when I bought the house...
And 3)... the tank is worth about $500 brand new and this one is almost 20 years in the ground... are they really gonna spend money to come dig it up and “repossess” it
