Here comes a Laviska Shenault breakdown, stay tuned (thread):
Shenault is not going to wow you with his route running ability. Certainly not on any horizontal routes, but his very good mental processing allows him to create space late in the play.
This guy eats up cushion like an elite speedster. He only has one speed and that starts directly after the burst. CB is playing off, opened his hips early and allows Shenault the chance at an uncontested catch.
Notice how Shenault stops and alters his pace towards the end of the route. Has the mental processing to realize that he’s entering into contested territory. Gives his QB a clean and open target. Very good acceleration to take it to the house. Play speed isn’t 4.58.
My favorite part of his game is the RAC. Really hope teams use him like this in the NFL. 4th and 2, good vision and gets into the defensive backs blind spot to pick up extra yards. Physical to the whistle.
Another designed touch, showing patience when pressing the LOS. Good vision with acceleration, wiggle and physicality - causing missed tackles .
Eats up cushion quicker than anticipated causing the DB to open hips. Bites on fake and leaves him wide open. Good ball tracking at the end of the play.
Good throw from Montez right into the soft spot of the zone. Shenault goes up between two defenders and comes down with it. Good high point and manual dexterity on the catch.
One of my favorite plays, Shenault gets press with an inside shade. Looks like he wins with a nice release but pocket breaks down. Shenault recognizes and comes back to the ball. Good sideline awareness and awareness in general to help his QB bail out the protection.
Not an overly impressive play but he gets upfield and creates three yards after contact.

6’2 225 receiver coming at you like running back. Great vision, love how he gets skinny and leaps through his two blocks to gain extra yardage.
Lower body strength on display here. Fights through a tackle and maintains his balance. Easy first down.
Patience and toughness to pick up extra yards.
Shenault just does amazing things with the ball in his hands. Short area quickness, acceleration and toughness on display.
Pretty good for a guy that “can’t run routes.”
