Talking about saffron (zafarân in Persian, these are the different grades:

Sargol: only red stigmas, strongest
Pushal: red & yellow stigmas, lower strength
Boonch: 2/3rd yellow stigmas & 1/3rd red, lowest strength

The original Persian name is Zaparân. Then, because Arabic doesn't have the P sound, it was changed to "zafarân".

Just as Pârsi became Fârsi and Paloodeh became Faloodeh.
