that we should actually state what our specific problems are with a public figure (or any person really) rather than just vaguely gesturing at someone's "past behaviour" or "attitude" is an incredibly banal statement and it's frankly wild @biggestjoel got flack for saying it
like if you want to talk about vaush, there are definitely specific things you could bring up to criticize his work or his past behavior. I've done so numerous times. but getting mad at people for not "doing the research themselves" just makes it look like you have nothing.
oh and just tbc when I say "past behaviour" in quotes I'm not literally saying bringing up people's past behaviour. that is obviously good to do. emphasis on "vague gesturing" before that quote indicating I'm talking about when people just say "past behaviour" without elaborating
