Jesus walks into the city that will mean his death.

And he does it in the most subversive way possible.
Instead of gold plated chariots and white war horses, instead of marching armies, instead of trumpets, he came on a donkey.

And the ordinary people grabbed whatever they could find-The clothes off their backs and the trees around them, to honor him.
They yelled “Save us!”

We too chose which parade we will join- the parade of gold plated promises, of wealth and power that say life but mean death, or the parade of the poor around a crucified messiah.
We see today how the gold plated parade brings death- because it has no room for the poor, because it must hide injustice, because if we think only of appearances, we can’t admit when we’ve made mistakes and change them.

All of these things look “great again,” but bring death.
And then there’s Jesus. Marching with the poor. Revealing injustice. Celebrating weakness.

This harder way walks towards death. But it’s also the way to infinite life.

The parade of weakness that will save us.
