The surgeon general told states they have to be “Rosie the Riveter,” invoking Pearl Harbor and 9/11, saying that how “everyone needs to do their part”? Please. The federal government should do its job and stop avoiding responsibility for its own failures. https://politi.co/2RdNnmr
“This is ludicrous,” @JayInslee said of these remarks. “The surgeon general referred to Pearl Harbor. Can you imagine if Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, ‘We’ll he right behind you, Connecticut. Good luck building those battleships?”
About 2,400 people were killed at Pearl Harbor, @Surgeon_General. Nearly 3,000 on 9/11. This pandemic has killed more than 9,100 Americans, and even that is an underestimation. More than a Pearl Harbor and 9/11, put together. Now you tell us to get ready. https://nyti.ms/2JIkmuS
The surgeon general of the United States, @JeromeAdamsMD, tweeted this on February 1. When I saw this being tweeted as a screenshot, I suspected that it was fake. It just seemed too ludicrous. But this is my shot of it, taken today. As of this moment, Adams hasn’t deleted it.
