I'm glad I finally read "Into The Magic Shop" by Dr James Doty. It was in my "Bangtan Must Read" pile of books, and I'm glad I read it now, after 7 came out.
I found so many similarities between the book and Bangtan art. So, here goes my thread. Beware, spoilers ahead!

@BTS_twt
I won't go in details on the book, that's not the reason for this thread. I'd rather show the similarities between the story in the book, some specific words and some of the songs and other art that BTS gave us these past years.

@BTS_twt
If I had to compare the early life of the author and BU, I would say some scenes he describes could easily fit in BU, without changing a single word: a life of misery and an alcoholic dad, with no specific hope of future.
Yes, I definitely had some INU Tae vibes there.

@BTS_twt
But while in BU things seem to go from bad to worse for everyone and Jin tries to find a solution for his friends through time travel,
Jim in the book meets Ruth in a real Magic Shop. She will change his life forever...

Sumarizing the message of the book would not be possible, you really need to read it to understand how it is done.
But interesting enough, the Magic Shop concept was described when the 5th Muster started last year... it was the theme after all.😉

Jim's life changes for the better thanks to what he learnt from Ruth. He learns that he is worthy, he learns to love himself.

Rings a bell right?
The book was recommended during the LY era and we all sang Answer: Love Yourself 💜

Jim also learns about why people hurt others. It is because they are hurt deep inside. They have to heal to stop hurting themselves and others.

How many times have we seen BU characters being hurt and hurting each other? No healing stage yet...

We all saw Fake Love MV teaser and the sentence that goes:
"Magic Shop is a psychodramatic technique that exchanges fear for a positive attitude"
In FL, the BU characters exchange their fears for a positive moment but it does not work, does it?

@BTS_twt
Jim, in the book, understands that the Magic Shop works if you open your heart, if the change comes from the heart, not if you think with your mind only. Compassion is key.

This is the part Jin only starts to understand in BU Epiphany...

Opening the heart is the first step, but Jim does not use the Magic Shop as he should... and gets lost in his life.
He remembers Ruth words again...
His heart is a compass to guide him.

While Jim get guided by his heart and compass, we learn about a Map of the Soul in BU notes in Persona.
We are following the book's pattern!
After Love Yourself Era, comes Map Of The Soul Era to guide us.

@BTS_twt
Doty talks about a journey to transcendence, Jung's Map of the Soul calls us to individuation, the path to the Self.
But looking towards oneself is only part of the picture.
The full picture is also about connecting with others.

"We are on a journey of connection. It is the journey of opening our heart to our fellow beings on this earth and recognizing that they are our sisters and brothers."

The #Connect_BTS project this year was exactly about that, connecting people from around the world...

@BTS_twt
This Into "The Magic Shop" book was simply amazing! I really recommend it to everyone. I took my time reading it, because there is so much to let in and learn from this book that rushing through it would not have been the best way for me.🥰
