Why no one is talking about the integrity of gloves and their "protective efficacy"?
You may think you are protected when you wear gloves, but it doesn't mean that this shield of : latex, nytril, or whatever is keeping you safe.
Your fingernails and nail polish are also host places for bacterial growth. Has anyone considered not putting nail polish? No.. But health care professionals keep their nails well cut short and clean for this reason.
This sense of selfprotection you get when you wear disposable gloves is not real. You start touching everything thinking that it's fine. Your phone, your wallet, the door knobs, your steering wheel, your shifting gear, you car keys. Everything, with the same gloves.
Then you also touch your face mask that is not in its proper place anyway. And the list of things you do when you are wearing gloves goes on. That's all I can think about at the moment.
Now let's talk about when you dispose of these gloves. Most of you just take them off by touching your skin and then touching them with your own fingers. You just dump them on the streets (typical lebanese act) and not even sanitize or wash your hands.
Your gloves are porous and they start deteriorating the second you wear them. They lose their integrity in a few minutes. You can't just walk around for hours with the same pair of gloves. It all depends on the quality of the material and the manufacturers recommendations.
I can go on and on.
The point is, you are unaware of how useless they are to you. Wash your hands, sanitize them when you are outside (IN CASE YOU REALLY NEEDED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE). And just stop using them. You are harming yourself more than you think you are. Stay safe.
