Once I was teaching a bunch of 2nd graders about the Brooklyn Bridge and we were talking about the Roebling family. And they got on the & #39;Did he die? When did he die? How did he die?& #39; line of questions that kids often get on when talking about history.
Eventually after several Historical Figures are introduced and several Did They Die& #39;s are asked, I say & #39;Yes, they& #39;re all dead. Everyone who was alive in the 1850s is dead now.& #39;
And then this 8 year old looks at me and softly says, in utter earnestness, & #39;except for you...& #39;
