On her website, @naitosawako lists numerous policies such as reducing the mayor's salary by 50%, as well as supporting minorities like disabled and LGBT people. The city already started a partnership system recently, but it seems like we can expect more.

Quick correction: she's the youngest female mayor of a city. When I saw the headline, I briefly forgot that 市長 are just one of the four different kinds of mayors you can have in Japan (villages, towns, wards of Tokyo, and cities). https://twitter.com/writerofscratch/status/1238964781090029568
She will be Japan's 84th female mayor since 1945 and the 44th when it comes to mayors of cities. https://twitter.com/writerofscratch/status/1238952543209893888?s=19
The fact that Kyodo's translators forgot that there are more types of mayors than just 市長 makes me feel a lot better about making that same mistake.
(As noted in 3rd tweet of this thread, youngest female mayor is Tsunan Town's mayor). https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2020/04/88d7d0768109-corrected-36-yr-old-political-newcomer-becomes-japans-youngest-female-mayor.html
