Okay, but now I’m pissed off. Just saw Overzealous Bicycle Cop give the same lecture to a man in his 70s or 80s with a walking stick.
Our paths crossed (2m apart) and the man told me he needed to rest periodically on his exercise, which was visibly obvious.
He thought the cop was wrong about the law but wasn’t sure enough to argue. He was clearly a bit upset.
Just got home and I'm still fuming. The guy was old and frail and very plainly hadn't felt up to walking again yet. Who the fuck has been helped there? Again there was nobody within 30-40 yards of him. He was breaking no law. Idiocy.
Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer can apparently do what the fuck she likes.
To be clear: I don't think what the CMO did posed any risk of spreading the virus. But the naked hypocrisy of it poses a risk of undermining the credibility of the government's messaging, and therefore *indirectly* of the virus.
