One for students,aspiring pentesters or anyone who is writing reports. Please learn to use word properly when you& #39;re writing reports. If there& #39;s one thing as a security consultant I do more in life it is write reports. Get your word skills up please. Thread: 1/x
2/x Get to know how styling works and the navigation pane, this is where your report is going to be built so use proper headings, take pride in your work please.
3/x if you ask someone to look over your report and they are QAing properly they will use the review tools built into word, if you get it back and track changes are on, you can accept or decline them plus read comments see attached image.
4/x formatting and layout, remember your audience, If you& #39;re conveying a point to an exec don& #39;t use overly technical language please use the #TeachGranny methodology @cornerpirate taught me the reporting ropes and passing it on is what I want to do.
5/x (optional) enable formatting notes so you can see where page breaks and the likes are. Click that backwards P looking thing and it& #39;ll flip on formatting.
6/x Section breaks and page breaks, use them not the return key, avoid this(1st image), instead use a section break(2nd image). Breaks are found by navigating to layout->breaks(3rd image).
7/x get your tables and pictures in line, get figures sorted out that are actually descriptive, if there& #39;s one thing I& #39;ve learned from @pjvenda & @alexloma it& #39;s that having descriptive figures is key!
