A nuclear powered aircraft carrier is not just any "O6" command. You will have trouble - indeed you cannot - find another more challenging & important CAPT/COL type /1

command on the planet except for perhaps that of a SSBN. Due to its high presence on the global stage, even on that 1-on-1 comparison, the nod goes to the carrier CO.

Also in this case, & those who've deployed on a carrier know exactly what I'm speaking about here, the huge /2

"known-unknown" here is what transpired with the Strike Group Commander, the Admiral who with his Staff lives cheek-and- jowl with the CO of the CVN. That will be the key. Too many people are making judgements they should know better to make about larger questions. Besides my /3

Also, for retired 4-star opinion pieces, be careful who you listen to. From either party, those who are well known political players, either holding civ. appointments in the past, been /4

involved in political campaigns before, or who are clearly positioning themselves for a civilian appointment, listen to what they are saying in that light. Some are incredibly hamfisted in their attempt. Others, heartfelt. Be careful before investing too much in their posturingBT
