The way CPR is treated differently to any other intervention is ludicrous and often harmful. CPR should be treated the same as other interventions, and it should not be offered when 100% ineffective. Many organisations such as DHSC, GMC, RCN have been part of this failure.
One isn't obliged to offer bypass surgery to everyone, one doesn't have to offer dialysis to one and all, offering ECMO is not obligatory.....so why on earth should CPR be any different?
(Note a shockable rhythm is clearly a very different entity and for the purposes of this thread I'm talking about non shockable rhythms)
