Gonna work my way through NME's 500 greatest albums starting with number 500. Some tunes on this. Like most hip hop albums though it's too long and the interludes are annoying
498. Probably appreciated it more than I enjoyed it. The sign of an ATG is the people they influence and I can here a lot of future people in here.
497. I like this. Great example of how to proudly show your influences whilst creating something in your own image. Excellent use of guest spots as well. Get Lucky may have been overplayed but you can't deny it's a classic.
496. Fuck knows how this got on. Wasn't arsed about it at the time and this listen hasn't changed that.
495. Didn't hate it as much as I thought I was going to. Every moron who has lost thier shit to mr brightside for the millionth time had put a cloud over their whole career. Some quite ambitious pop and some shockers on here.
494. Has a couple of my favourite songs by the Cure but I've always been a fan of the whimsical poppy moments more than their creppy gothy ones.
493. Started off with some interesting ideas and beautiful arrangements but with a run time over an hour it started to sound dreary.
486. As rap singers go, I like Kendrick and there are some great moments on this album. It's too long though and Backseat Freestyle is one of the most stupid songs ever made.
485. Right, just so we're clear, very few albums should be above 45mins long, especially a Bruce Springsteen album where you can listen to four songs and get the gist of his whole career.
483. One of the things on by bucket list is to listen to someone with a voice this amazing in a smokey basement bar, drinking whisky and suffering from the kind of heartbreak that unrequited love brings
481. This is proper amazing. It actually moves you. If she was in your local gospel quire you'd belive in jebus
476. I don't hate the Foo's and might have been into this if it was introduction to them but they're the sort of band who can by perfectly summarised with a greatest hits.
475. I'll let @Titchlar81 tell you if this one's any good
474. Love this album, makes you feel like you're always acceding, like your coming up on a really good pill. The late, great Andrew Weatherall on production.
471. This album sounds amazing on a day like today, sitting outside with cans. It also sounds pretty good sitting in the dark, playing football manager. With cans.
470. I'm going to have to stop prefixing hip hop entries with "I don't like hip hop but..." I've alwyad likes Kanye's work, respect him as a producer and a rapper. Think he might even be a genius whatever that means. I like this a lot and there is better to come.
469. This is a great example of why you shouldn't listen to just a greatest hits. None of this would make it but a lot of it is fantastic. Would be higher if it weren't for some wanky shit spoken word story telling at the end
468. There is a bit in one of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy books where they say a melody by an alien race is so perfect, if Paul McCartney wrote it he'd be able to buy Sussex. That melody is by The Shins
487. Started off not understanding what was good about Iggy. The more the album went on the more I enjoyed ot. That's why I'm doing this list.
465. The National are clearly over represented on this list. I don't think this album is anything special
472. Started off enjoying it but after a while it was just noise. If I was on holiday and I walked past a bar playing this I'd jump straight in.
471. What have I told these bands about being too long? This hit heights though. Imagine thinking oasis are anywhere close to these guys. Fucking embarrassed for oasis fans.
461. I am so sorry.
