A COVID rant thread from a raving lunatic with 39 followers:
It is an important question to ask: is the government handling this well? As a conservative: no. The government never handles things well. The CDC lied to us about masks. The FDA still sucks at approving vital products as seen in Ohio where a machine to sanitize masks was held up
And ultimately has been limited to a fraction of its capacity because safety???? The government is garbage.

BUT. Would this be handled any better by other means? It’s impossible to tell since what’s happened is already happened but I’m here to tell you what to think so heregoes
If the threat of this thing is as bad as it appears to be then it’s hard to believe that the economic shutdown was improper or even avoidable. If everyone goes out and gets sick at work the economy shuts down anyways.
I fully understand the sentiment that the economy matters. The economy is people it’s their livelihoods. 10 million people out of a job all at once is a crisis of its own. I just find it hard to believe that there’s a truly better option.
Matt Walsh has been pushing for weeks that we need to just quarantine the elderly and at risk patients and let the rest of us go and keep washing our hands. That sounds fine on the surface but it doesn’t quite check out for me.
If I’m a working man and my wife works at a nursing home and I go out and get sick, give it to my wife, and my wife goes in to work the next day and gets everyone there sick the quarantine did nothing. There’s too many factors for such a simple solution.
I should note here that it’s a hard and fast rule of mine that if someone is offering you an easy solution they’re either lying or an idiot because that’s not how life works at all.
THAT said, the government’s solution of stay inside isn’t the best either as it is also “easy” or at least simplistic. And people getting arrested or ticketed for paddle boarding or going for a drive is fascist nonsense but that goes without saying. Or it should at least.
This thread is already too long for someone with 39 followers. Stop complaining and keep reading.
The demands to reopen everything seem to ignore a key point as well which is the PURPOSE of flattening the curse. If our healthcare system is overwhelmed out deaths skyrocket. Young people are lower risk but they’re not IMMUNE.
Without proper medical care this can take down anyone. You just don’t know.

It’s also apparent even to some shmoe like me on Twitter that the stay at homes work. Ohio and Louisiana I believe reported their first cases on the same day.
LA has nearly 3x the cases today that Ohio does with significantly less population and it’s because of Dewine’s action. New York is a hot mess because Deblasio said to go about your life as normal. It seems to me the lockdowns are a smart play.
It just seems to me that people demanding we go back to life as normal are ignoring the fact that life is not normal right now. They severely downplay the virus in order to make their point.
Back to Matt Walsh real quick. Stop buying everything he says. All he does is have hot takes which he throws out on Twitter (which is not real life) and spouts those same opinions on his podcast in the safety of his house. He gets no real push back
In either position. These debates can’t truly be had here on Twitter dot com. It’s too nuanced. The solutions aren’t 240 characters long. To pretend otherwise is snake oil. I should have started the thread with this tweet.
Also I’m sure these debates are being had among the Covid task force and they’re reaching these conclusions none the less. Trump is up for re-election in November and he has a very vested interest in the economy doing well.
That he would do this to the economy despite his political interest garners some trust from me that he’s making the hard but necessary decision. This is a point that I have not seen made.
But speaking of debate and our conversation around this topic, we should be having these discussions on national television but the media is too up their own buttholes to do it.
Imagine how much better we’d all feel about this if we could trust anything the media is saying to us. This tragedy is up there with the virus itself. The media is derelict in its duty to the people and that’s just an actual shame.
I think this thread is finished. There’s so much more one can say but I feel better having shouted this into the void. Don’t forget to like comment and subscribe for a chance to win a free Raid: Shadow Legends chest or something dumb like that.
