1/ Video/photo thread:

Went to a fun and bizarre amusement park in Sichuan today, called LuxeLakes Water City 麓湖水城.

The indoor stuff was closed but the outdoor activities were open and masks were scarce.

Here's the park layout. Look close for "Twitter Forest" – no idea why

2/ Had a lovely picnic and posed for the dozens of passersby that asked

3/ Before hitting the amusement craziness itself, I fell asleep in the warm grass and awoke to what I'm pretty sure was a miniature alpaca.

4/ This is 小蜗, who calls me 小美. He is the kindest 6-year-old who ever lived. Always has cookie crumbles encircling his mouth. (Empty cookie container in hand.)

5/ Here's me strapped in and a brief pan of the rope-course area.

6/ Here's a friend who could not get across a rope course because she could not stop laughing. Listen to her. We don't know what came over her.

7/ I stumbled into what looked like a PLA team preparing for a raid, but it was just some nerds geared up for high-tech laser tag. But those guns! As an American, you don't instinctively assume they're fake.

8/ One of the commandos shooting at an opponent behind a bush

9/ Same friend that couldn't stop laughing on the ropes couldn't stop laughing on a slide and she crashed and buried her iPhone in sand.
