To be fair, he worked hard for this title.

Freedman’s a private equity investor who teamed up with a real estate corp to buy Hahnemann & bankrupted it in <2 years.
Then he closed the hospital in a matter of weeks, dumping 3,500 ppl + 500 doctors. It was so inconceivable I wrote a law to prevent it from happening again.

Corrupted and broken U.S. laws around bankruptcy, real estate and financing allowed Freedman to separate Hahnemann’s land and building from the operations. So while 1000s of healthcare workers lost pensions, he shielded the most valuable part of his deal so that . . .
Joel Freedman can continue to do what he’s doing now to us. Exploit a crisis for profit and withhold a needed and vacant hospital building while we face COVID-19 renting out stadiums and hotels for bed space.
That’s why I said Hahnemann’s vacancy is a complete symbol of all that has gone wrong in the American health-care system and private equity.
So to “coronavirus villain” Joel Freedman - you earned it. It’s our job to fix this system so it never happens again.

Thank you @BernieSanders @ninaturner @RepBrendanBoyle @RBReich @jaboukie @CharlesPPierce @People4Bernie @PPF_PA @PhillyDSA for highlighting Hahnemann and saving lives over greed so powerfully.
