Let me tell you about a Swedish Healthcare crisis law that was activated in Stockholm this week... https://twitter.com/DailyMirror/status/1246738827294752768
So under the normal working situation the union agreement between the State Health Service and healthcare workers is a maximum working week of 48 hours
but the agreement has a clause where the regional or national Government can change working conditions during a health crisis..

That clause was triggered this week
Essentially it means that the 48 hours limit is removed, shift limits are removed & healthcare personnel can be legally obliged to work extra hours at the discretion of hospital directors
In return they get 220% of their normal hourly wage

Let me say that again. 220% of their normal hourly wage for EVERY hour they work under emergency conditions
This is a recognised safeguard built into the union collective agreement for just this kind of eventuality

ao in a way Hancock is right, 'now' ie in the middle of a crisis is not the best time to discuss nurses & doctors pay & conditions ...the best time to discuss it is BEFORE the crisis occurs
that chance wrt CoVID is long gone, but the chance is now to safeguard for the future

in sum, for clarity;
In Sweden, working under pre-arranged 'crisis' criteria, healthcare workers receive 220% of their normal wage. Working double thus means netting 440% of normal pay
seems more than fair for putting their own lives on the line for the lives of others

a lot more useful than a round of applause
