anybody else freaked out by how instantaneously their community got excited to serve up their civil freedoms, nearly begging for more police enforcement and mobile phone surveillance and local snitching

literally heard a “would it be bad for corporations and the government to collaborate to track your location and make sure you’re not outside” debate on the radio wherein people really went “it would be good, just for this one extreme circumstance :)”

there is no doubt you need to stay the fuck home. but aren’t we setting up to blame a longer isolation period on you not being inside rather than the government not being prepared? and doesn’t that lead to a larger popular willingness to accept authoritarianism?
