My timeline is full of arguments about people in parks. Strong points on all sides: pleas from medics up against the horror of COVID-19 to stay indoors; explanations of why that might be difficult or dangerous for some; questions about the basis for science & policy choices.
There’s also some criticism, very much deserved in my opinion, of how unclear and inconsistent the government’s messaging has been up to this point.
I’m following the NHS advice & am staying at home, aside from the occasional state sanctioned walk. Of course I think we all should do as much as we can.
I also think it’s worth acknowledge that the rules are a lot easier to follow if you have a nice big home, live with people you get on with, have outdoor space etc, versus if you have a tiny space, kids bouncing off the walls, overcrowding, a bad or even violent relationship, etc
