So woke up about 4 am to see the lights go out. Just stocked my fridge and freezer to continue to quarantine. Y’all, pleas try to prepare for multiple issues during this time. So much of our infastructure is NOT ready for a single disaster much less multiple occurring ones.
I know @CityOfMemphis was planning on cutting staff to @mlgw, but my lights are out without a weather event and a freezer full of food to stay in because of this virus. This happens several times a year in my neighborhood. Are we ready for co-occurring events?
I’m one of those people who falls in between here. I work for myself. No new Che is are coming. I help to take care of my parents who are in their 80s. I am their person on the outside who has tried to be Diligent about limiting my exposure. I mentioned this just a few days ago +
How the slightest problem on top of this quickly turns into a larger one. I bought new flashlights for the family when I was out, but didn’t get the cooler. I was in Baton Rouge for Katrina, so anticipating the unexpected will be crucial. Many of us (myself included) can +
Barely afford our daily lives as is. But if you can, keep you car filled up with gas, put a little sanitation kit together for your car. Think of what you would do if you had to transport a sick relative. I ha e one of those picnic blankets that is waterproof on one side.
Write down, print out your contacts, doctors info, etc. I e even been krping my grocery list in one of those heavy zip sheet protectors that I can wipe down. One for your house, car &!one for someone outside your household.
Also, Autocorrect + my nerves make this thread a mess, but you get the picture.
