What's the story morning glory (true story, a thread): in 1995 I had just left school. Me and mate went to kos on holiday aged 16. We were on beach. Wearing oasis tee shirts. This cockney lad came up to us and told us he had (in his posession) the new oasis album (morning glory)
The album wasnt due out for another couple of months. We had only heard 2 songs of it (some might say and roll with it). The rest of album was unknown to anyone. The cockney lad offered us a copy so we met him and he gave us a copy each (on tape). We listened to it and were...
Blown away. We were hearing songs like wonder wall and dont look back in anger for the first time. Before every body else on the planet. We went into kardamena that night and were drinking in an indie bar. Talking to owner of bar we told he what we had and he struck a deal.
We were to meet him the next day and give him our copy of morning glory for him to record. We met during the day in an underground nightclub. He gave us a few beers; we played pool while him and his dj mates listened in awe and recorded the album. As a way of payment
We agreed to launch the album later that week in his bar. We advertised the first ever global airing of what's the story morning glory. As a way of payment me and my mate were allowed to host the night. He effectively gave us his bar for the night. All booze included.
We advertised the album, got the place packed and drunk copious amounts of free booze. We were heros lol. On return to England we decided that rock n roll was for us so we learned to play guitar and formed a band within months. The bands went on to become Dirty Vinyls
We never "made it" but we had a good 15 years at it. I got to know Alan McGee who discovered Oasis and he would invite us to london to play in his clubs. I once told this story to Liam Gallagher who thought it was a great story and to quote him "that's what it's all about"

You will definitely know one of the other band members. He now paints leeds united boxes around the city.
. Andy was our drummer. I still to this day think we were one of the best bands in the country but just at the wrong time. We were very indie when indie was changing

I could tell some stories about what we got up to that would put alot of other rock n roll bands to shame. We were proper. If it wasnt for oasis or in particular what's the story morning glory I'm not sure I would have learned guitar and formed a band. Anyway. That's it
