Pathetic situation of Punjab Disaster Management Authority. Had a meeting with DG today. Only 14 crore Rs issued for big cities and 4 for smaller. No ration distribution anywhere for the poor. The excuse offered is that there is no data of the poor/ labour/daily wager available.
When I told that there is data available at UC level there was no answer except govt is giving Rs 12 thousand to select people through easy paisa. It should be noted that all easy Paisa outlets are closed. There is no way anyone can get funds this way.
There is no funds released by Punj Govt . Rather the DG PDMA is asking the philanthropist to give PDMA charity to distribute. There is no ration distribution in any city nor any immediate plan for it.
The government is asking local companies and philanthropists to contribute more. It is shameful that a province of 120 million people is not able to distribute rations to its poorest segment of population in times of disaster and has nothing.
The 25 billion Rs charity program announced for distribution to needy has yet to start . people are complaining that registration is not getting done online and easy paisa is not available.
For CM Buzdar who was supposedly planning from January 2020, this situation is a proof of the poor performance of Punjab Govt. It’s only the responsible citizens who are distributing rations all over the city on their own. @UsmanAKBuzdar @titojourno @ajmaljami
