I want us to delve into this panic pertaining to Africa's alleged overpopulation size problem and how it is suffocating the world and needs to be addressed urgently by our self appointed Lord Bill Gates. Let's see if frequency distribution supports this claim.

A thread.
According to the United Nations World Population Prospect, below is a continental breakdown of the entire world population of 7794, 798, 739 (%= share of population)

- Asia 4641, 054, 775. 59.54%
- Africa 1340, 598, 147. 17.20%
- Europe. 747, 636, 026. 9.59%
- South America 430, 759, 766. 5.53%
- North America 368, 869, 647 7.60%
- Oceania 42, 677, 813. 0.55%

Now what is interesting about the descriptive statistical analysis above, is that Africa has the second largest land mass after Asia. Why is this important?
Because of population density. It is an average figure (other things being equal) that aims to look at the spread of the population relative to it's land mass. Asia boasting the biggest land mass out of all the continents has a population density of 144.71 and a share ...
.. of the population with a ratio of a whopping 59.54%. Africa, on the other hand, boasting the second biggest land mass has a population density of 43.83 and a share of the population with a ratio of 17.20%.
The difference in land mass size between Africa and Asia is roughly 9%. A simple mean calculation between population density of both continents yields 144.71+ 43.83/2 = 94.27 ( subtract 9% of land mass difference)= 94.27- 8.48 = 85. 79. This figure to me indicates that...
If anything, Africa's land mass is underutilised compared to that of Asia. A proper representation of land mass to population ratio in Africa should be sitting at roughly 85.79 and not 43.83.
Africa is the THIRD most densly populated continent after Asia and Europe. Even though it boasts the second biggest land mass after Asia, and Europe boasts the third largest land mass. This indicates that Africa does not have an overpopulation problem. So what is the fuss?
The answer does not lie in present day data, but "future" predication of population growth trajectory. Africa leads the way in terms of growth rate, birth rate and fertility rates. This seems to be what pains Bill Gates. Some sources indicate to how, by 2050, more than...
..half of the population will come from Africa. What is also worrying to our Overlord, is that Africa also has the youngest median age across all the continents. So it would seem as though the concerns for Africa is NOT overpopulation as the statistics would indicate that but...
... rather the trajectory it is taking in terms of the world population ratio and how other continents are not matching up. Dare I say it? Particularly Europe. If this was genuinely about population control across all the hot spots. His immediate focus would be on Asia&Europe.
... next time anyone wants to throw Africa's population problem in your face. Show them this thread. So o batlang mo Africa ses kana kana blah weh? @BillGates @Trevornoah
