I use words "solidarity" & "together" a lot. I mean it in a collective sense: people everywhere are experiencing unprecedented disruption due to #COVID19 and if we unite and take evidence-based public health measures, we will end the pandemic faster and emerge more harmonious.
I use these words when I'm talking to individuals in my day-to-day work.
At @WHO, colleagues have joined together with a laser-focus on understanding the new #coronavirus, advancing guidelines as knowledge evolves, communicating life-saving advice, & more. #COVID19
When I talk to leaders - of governments, businesses, non-profits, multilateral institutions, religious organizations, artists and athletes - we also talk about solidarity and togetherness. #COVID19
What makes me optimistic in the face of this new infectious respiratory pandemic is that in every conversation, literally, I've had since 31 Dec 2019, leaders from many countries, sectors, backgrounds & creeds have agreed on the need to come together in the fight against #COVID19
