Even wonderful Taiwan & South Korea had face mask export bans. So if u are outraged by President Trump, please remember to not be selectively outraged as not just a US policy but many across the globe. Some go as far as hoarding medical global supplies.

So when you read the news about "outrage", you have to think facts. Germany had an export ban when it was under shortage and only recently lifted it to OTHER EU MEMBER STATES.

The story of Germany is shocking because what it did was that it BANNED export of masks to its EU member states. Yep, that's like California banning exports to say, New York that is under the most immense crisis on the coronavirus thing.

So it repealed that because there was so much outrage by member states, particularly ones very hard hit by this.

It isn't just an issue inside the European Union regarding countries basically scrambling for themselves, there is also a move to block external (outside EU exports).

So when you read the news, and especially ones that are outraged by "Trump did this & he did that, and omgosh I can't believe he did that," remember to think fairly in your judgement.

Taiwan banned mask exports early on 24 January 2020 & also did many things early like banned travels to/from China & Hong Kong & screened & traced etc. All behaviors everyone doing now.

Bottom line: The virus reveals a massive crack in our global supply chain & excessive dependence on China. That is why we are short of what's needed, esp the ability to produce masks, testing kits, ventilators etc necessary. The implication is that this will change in the future.
In an emergency situation, can you blame Taiwan for banning the export of masks? It's just doing what it can for Taiwanese people. Can you blame South Korea as it dealt with an outbreak? No.
Can u blame Italy? Spain? Germany? France & USA? They all have 1 problem - supply chain!

Their "just in time" supply chain management & "cost reduction strategy" have proven to not work in a pandemic.
So they are fighting a war against the virus without the necessary army, and by that I mean supply chain capability to produce products ASAP.
