The apparent trend in museums to cut education staff while keeping curatorial staff in place is evidence that all the work we’ve done in the last 35 years to move from centering collections to focusing on visitors and communities has been an illusion. 1/2
I am feeling like everything I have worked towards in my career has evaporated. Protecting the collection and cutting off connections to people will destroy museums. Without the public we are simply storehouses. 2/2
