I'm going to publish my favourite paintings by Scottish artists.

I would like to dedicate this thread to all who have lost loved ones to the coronavirus and all fighting it off.

I hope this thread makes your day slightly better and positive.
"The Billy Boys" (1994) by Jack Vettriano

The title of the painting was taken from a poster of Quentin Tarantino’s film ‘Reservoir Dogs’.
The Reverend Robert Walker skating on Duddingston Loch (1784) by Henry Raeburn

The composition and subject matter of the painting are unusual among Scottish paintings. His stark black outfit contrasts strongly with the misty backdrop, and is reminiscent of 17th century Dutch art
Windows in the West is one of my favourite paintings and is very popular because it depicts tenement life in Glasgow.

On 11 January 1993 at 5.30 pm there was a very heavy snowstorm which left the area transformed and inspired Avril Paton to depict this wonderful scene.
"The City: Version Two" (1951) by Alasdair Gray.

A. Gray's paintings carry multiple perspectives, as in one my favorites, The City, which he made when he was fifteen.

The twin-towered building was from the theological college on Park Circus, now converted to luxury flats.
"Le Manteau chinois" (1909) by John Duncan Fergusson

I absolutely love JD Fergusson's the avant-garde developments of French painting and the artistic milieu of Paris.
"An Arab Interior" (1881) by Artur Melville

Melville's experiences in Egypt inspired his fascination with the decorative potential of light and shadow. He explored the exquisite, scintillating patterns of the Musharabeyah woodwork of this Arab interior.
"Autumn" (1888) by George Henry

The woman in this decorative composition merges with her autumnal woodland setting, brushwork overlapping from figure to landscape. Henry delights in the patterning created by slender trunks and stems, dappled light and leaves.
"Les joueurs" (1907) by Mary Cameron

The painting shows three Spanish workmen at a table, intent on their game, under a darkening sky. In the foreground, the produce of the fields make an attractive still life of grapes, capsicums and watermelon.
