Ok seeing a lot more of this uncritically Rted onto my timeline.
Please consider how referring to frontline vulnerable medical and care and retail workers get Othered by words like "hero" and "angel" https://twitter.com/LaSouvarine/status/1243815362472349696
Superheroes have super powers and are fictitious. They have to be stoic and sacrifice themselves for us.
Angels are not human beings but celestials who are beyond human needs, feelings, desires.
I'm sure you all mean it as a compliment, but it actually places them into this category of Other who is not allowed to ever consider their own self, speak their congruent feelings or have fear or needs.
I'm volunteering as a support listener for NHS staff atm.
I'm hearing a lot of things you dont think superheroes or angels are capable of saying/wanting/fearing. Please uphold their humanity, dont caricature people who are under extra ordinary stress and fear.
you only have to see how quickly those who work in emergency response got treated when they spoke out abut Tory government policies or when doctors said they'd prefer you stop voting Tory over applause. The public didnt like their voices be human.
There is a world of frontline NHS staff and carers and indeed private carers who are not "nurses and doctors" like all the SSD techs, the theatre supervisors, porters, admin who get erased here too.
Do applaud if you like, no-one is saying its wrong.
But please contact you MP and ask that they get the supplies and tests they need too.
Let them be human beings not 'angels' or 'heroes' but real flesh and blood people who can die of this too and are at risk
