This thread is a recap of the more significant hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19 evidence pro & con.

Con:

1) Two hospitals, one in France, the other in Michigan reported not seeing clinical results after use of HCQ, details are nonexistent.

1/11
2) A study found that only 3 of 11 patient got better after 5-6 days of HCQ, no data, no follow-up, no control. Patients had serious comorbidities including HIV and cancer, 10 of 11 were on oxygen. (yet 3 recovered?)

2/11
3) A clinical trial in Shanghai of 30 patients where both the control and study group were almost all cured after 5 days, showed no statistical difference between the group treated with HCQ and the control goup.

3/11
4) HCQ has shown promising in vitro results against viruses in the past, only to fail in clinical trials.

4/11
Pro:

1) IHU Méditerranée Infection reports treating 1,818 patients with HCQ+ AZ, 5 deaths for patients treated early enough to get at least 3 days of treatment. A flu like mortality rate of 0.2%. For all patients, the mortality rate is still just 0.7%.

5/11
2) Dr Vladimir Zelenko reports treating 699 patients with HCQ + AZ, 0 deaths, 0 intubations.

6/11
3) Dr. Stephen A. Smith, who runs the Smith Center for Infectious Disease, reports that out of 72 patients, there have been zero intubations where the patient was treated early enough to receive 4 days of HCQ+AZ.

7/11
4) Prevent Senior, a hospital in Sao Paulo that treats patients over the age of 50, reports that it had 96 deaths before treating with HCQ+AZ and since they began treating with HCQ+AZ have 0 deaths and only 1 person in ICU.

8/11
5) A RCT from Wuhan of 62 patients showed that the HCQ group had significantly better out comes than the control group in time to recovery, improvement in pneumonia, and fever reduction. None of the HCQ advanced to a serious condition, while 4 of the control group did.

9/11
6) Dr. Rob Richardson treated 8 high risk patients at Veteran's home in Oregon with HCQ+AZ. Only one person, who was 91 years old, died. Included in the survivors was a 104-year-old man.

10/11
7) Dr. Mohammud Alam, an infectious disease specialist, treated with HCQ+Doxycycline 47 elderly nursing home patients under long-term acute care with comorbidities. Only two died.
