sitting in open air spaces, while keeping more than droplet spreading distance apart, even “”unnecessary”” sunbathing is so so so much less dangerous than the situation that the Government has wilfully left health, care, education, delivery and shop workers in
it’s not just the possibility of transmission but the viral load. obviously sensible to close areas with eg metal surfaces that can’t necessarily be cleaned and discourage eating outside etc, but why stop people sitting outside. most people in London don’t have gardens
what’s more dangerous: serving hundreds of customers at close contact with inadequate protection, or, sitting outside with members of your household? what are local councils and busybodies on Facebook making more of a fuss about?
sensible: banning things that are actually risking transmission (playgrounds, picnics, barbecues)
totally missing the point: demanding that parks are closed, that people don’t sit outside
for lots of people, “exercise” might look like lazily, even unnecessarily being outside (walking slowly, sitting frequently etc)
it’s very likely that we’ll have to be in these conditions for a long time. for that to work, going outside with sensible precautions and education campaigns about how the virus actually spreads will be important.
obviously people shouldn’t do unnecessary things that might lead to transmission, but occasionally sitting in the park following sensible distancing rules does not
I’m clearly not saying everyone should go to the park lmao. The point is that frustrations are being directed in totally the wrong direction. People sensibly making using of parks will make the quarantine conditions we face sustainable for a longer time
if you read this and think I said “let’s all go to the park” please remove your clown costume before reading next time
